Scout Family Bike Night on June 20th

All level of Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts are invited to Long Lake Regional Park, Tuesday, 20 June 2017 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  Ride or bring your own bikes to the large pavilion.  Signup to attend or as a volunteer here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0a49abaa2bab9-scout


The event fee is $3.00/Scout or $5.00/Family.  Dinner will be available for purchase from food vendors onsite.


Check in runs between 4:00 -7:00 pm. Participants are free to arrive and work through all or part of the stations at your own pace.  Scouts will receive a passport and directions to the stations set up for their age level.


The merit badge stations include but are not limited to: cycling first aid, a bike obstacle course, helmet fittings and bike safety with the New Brighton Police and Fire Department, fix it station and basic bike maintenance, and family or Troop lead bike hikes.


All stations will be open and available through the event, with these exceptions: The Boy Scout/older Girl Scout 10 mile bike hikes will leave the Long Lake Pavilion at 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm and are expected to last 1.5-2 hours. Our special guest speakers will present between 5:30 and 6:30 pm.


  • Daisy Girl Scouts- will earn part of their Between Earth and Sky Journey. (Specifically outdoor activities for sessions 5 and 6).

  • Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts can earn the Girl Scout Cycling badge.

  • Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts have the opportunity to earn their Leadership Torch award if they contact the Service Unit Team prior to 10 June 2017, participate in at least one event planning meeting, and work as an event volunteer.

  • Cub Scouts: Tiger-Pin elective; Wolf-Beltloop; Weblos-Sportsman Activity Badge Requirement 3.

  • Boy Scouts need to notify their Troop Leader prior to this event in order to get their badge card. They need to bring their badge card with them to this event. Boy Scouts with their badge cards will be able to complete the majority of the Cycling Badge at this event, and will leave with the badge counselors information for follow up and completion of the badge work.
